AMR Research Acquired by Gartner

Deal marks the 19th transaction by William Blair & Company’s Business Services investment banking group in 2009


January 14, 2010 - William Blair & Company acted as exclusive financial advisor to AMR Research, Inc. in connection with its sale to Gartner, Inc. for total consideration of $63 million.

AMR Research, based in Boston, is the leading independent market research and advisory firm serving the global supply chain organization and the related IT ecosystem that supports it. The company provides subscription-based services and consulting support to supply-chain and IT executives at Global 1000 firms in the consumer products, industrial, life sciences, and retail sectors.

Gartner, Inc. is the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company. Gartner delivers technology-related insight necessary for its clients to make the right decisions, every day. Founded in 1979 and based in Stamford, Connecticut, Gartner is a valuable partner to about 60,000 clients in 10,000 distinct organizations across 80 countries, and has approximately 4,100 associates, including 1,100 research analysts and consultants.
William Blair & Company marketed AMR Research to a selected group of potential strategic partners, coordinated the due diligence process, and assisted in negotiating the key elements of the letter of intent and definitive purchase agreement. The transaction marks the 19th transaction by William Blair & Company’s Business Services investment banking group in 2009.
