James D. McKinney
Head of Debt Capital Markets, William Blair & Company
James McKinney has 37 years of experience in the development and marketing of fixed-income securities at William Blair & Company. He is a member of the firm's credit committee and is chairman of the audit committee.

Mr. McKinney supervises the firm’s Municipal and Taxable Fixed Income Sales and Trading operation
and the Debt Capital Markets Department. He earned his B.S. from Spring Hill College and an M.B.A. from
Loyola University.

Mr. McKinney is a member of the investment committee of Merit Capital Partners. In addition, he is a life
trustee of St. Ignatius College Prep, the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Spring Hill College, a member of the Advisory and Development Board of the St. Vincent DePaul Center, a Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee, Board of Trustees for LaRabida Children’s Hospital and a past Member of the Regional Advisory Committee of the Securities Industry Financial Market Association. He is a three-time finisher of the Hawaiian Ironman.

Michael S. Lee
Head of Corporate and Executive Services, William Blair & Company
Michael Lee is the head of William Blair & Company’s Corporate & Executive Services. He focuses on the unique issues that confront owners and executives of private and public companies. Prior to joining William Blair & Company in 2004, Michael was a tax attorney and has 15 years of experience in the areas of wealth, tax, and estate planning.

A frequent speaker and writer on tax planning and tax strategies, Michael has presented to the American
Bankers Association, American Bar Association, and College for Financial Planning on issues such as interest rate-sensitive transfer strategies, private trust companies, and Family Limited Partnerships. In addition to being a faculty member of John Marshall Law School, Michael also is a Certified Financial Planner and sits on the author’s panel for the CCH Journal of Passthrough Entities. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners, and Chicago Estate Planning Council.

Before entering the practice of law, Michael was an electrical engineer in the Advanced Avionics Systems Group of General Dynamics Space Systems, where he developed advanced guidance, navigation, and control systems for launch vehicles. Education: BSEE, MS, JD (Order of Barristers) Tulane University; LLM (Taxation, honors) Chicago Kent College of Law.
