Runners participate in Chicago's annual Proud to Run 10K and 5K

William Blair celebrated Pride month by supporting Chicago's Proud to Run, an annual event along the city's lakefront, on June 23 to raise funds for groups that help LGBTQ communities.

Some colleagues ran or walked the 10K and 5K while others were hosts at the event, which attracted more than 2,000 racers, 200 volunteers, and hundreds of friends, families and community partners.

This was the first year William Blair participated in Proud to Run and marks the first anniversary of William Blair's Pride Alliance — supporters of the LGBTQ community and employees. The alliance was launched in June of 2017 to create an inclusive workplace for LGBTQ employees and encourage corporate policies that support diversity and enrich the firm's culture.

"This is a wonderful event and a great way to support the LGBTQ community," said Paige LaCour, who leads William Blair's Pride Alliance network. "William Blair is committed to being an inclusive and diverse workplace. The firm believes that diversity makes us better at what we do."

This year Proud to Run raised over $60,000 dollars for youth and health-related groups: University of Chicago's Care 2 Prevent, Illinois Safe Schools Alliance, Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative, and Test Positive Aware Network.
