Carl Young is a vice president and wealth advisor with William Blair’s Boston Wealth Management team. His responsibilities include managing individual and institutional accounts, investment research, and economic analysis.
Carl has been in the investment business since 1997. Before joining William Blair, he was a senior portfolio manager with Boston Private Bank & Trust Company managing high-net-worth and institutional clients. He also served as a member of the firm’s investment policy committee. Carl was active in the equity research process and led the BPB Midcap strategy. Previously, he was a senior research analyst at Century Capital Management Company. While there, he was responsible for fundamental stock selection and analysis supporting growth equity portfolios. Before that, he worked at Frontier Capital Management as a research analyst handling stock selection and portfolio construction.
Carl received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Harvard College and holds a Master of Business Administration degree with concentrations in finance and accounting from J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He was a member of the United States ice hockey team in the 1992 Olympic Games and former board member of the United States Olympic Committee. Mr. Young currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center - Needham.
