About Cissie

Cissie Citardi, partner, is general counsel of William Blair. She has decades of global legal experience in the financial services sector. Cissie is responsible for legal, compliance, enterprise risk management, information security, and internal audit across all areas of William Blair’s business. She is a member of the firm’s executive committee, serves on the board of trustees for the William Blair Funds, and is a director of the William Blair SICAV.

Prior to joining William Blair in 2020, Cissie served as the general counsel for PineBridge Investments, a private global asset manager with capabilities in multi-asset, fixed income, equities, and alternatives. She was also a member of the senior management committee. Before joining PineBridge, Cissie worked at Silver Point Capital, counseling investment teams providing customized debt and equity financing to middle-market companies. Earlier in her career, Cissie worked in private practice at Shearman & Sterling in New York City, where she represented investment banks and issuers in a variety of corporate finance transactions. Originally from Australia, she served as associate to the Honorable Justice Beaumont in the Federal Court of Australia and practiced law at Herbert Smith Freehills in Sydney.

Cissie participates actively in general counsel forums at SIFMA, the Investment Adviser Association, and the American Securities Association. She is a member of the International Women’s Forum and serves on the audit committee for the Special Olympics of Illinois. In 2020, Cissie was recognized by the Association of Corporate Counsel as a Value Champion. Cissie is proud to be the executive sponsor of the William Blair Veterans’ Alliance.

Cissie holds both a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney, Australia.
