About Mike

Mike McClean, managing director, is a wealth advisor with William Blair’s Private Wealth Management group in Baltimore. He uses the firm’s proprietary equity research, open-architecture platform, and global resources to develop, implement, adapt, and monitor investment portfolios based on his clients’ risk tolerance, goals, and objectives. He provides a full array of brokerage and advisory services with a primary focus on tax-efficient, balanced, individual equity and bond portfolios. Mike also has experience with the management of endowments, foundations, and partnerships, working closely with investment committees to adhere to their stated investment policies and objectives.

Mike began his career in the financial services industry with Alex. Brown and Sons in 1994, where he focused on providing high-quality client service and advice to individuals as well as corporate and executive services (restricted stock transactions, stock option exercises, etc.). After leaving Alex. Brown, he served in a similar capacity with Credit Suisse. He previously served as a portfolio manager and principal with Brown Advisory.

When Mike is not serving his clients, he volunteers in various capacities at his church, Bay Area Community Church (Annapolis, Maryland), and serves on the architectural committee of his community. He values spending time with his wife and family and is a proud grandfather of Lyla. He enjoys traveling, undertaking home improvement projects, and spending time outdoors.
