Ed Dunphy joined William Blair in 2013 as a wealth advisor.
Previously, he had been with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney or its
predecessor firms for more than twenty years. Ed focuses on
creating comprehensive financial strategies for high-net-worth
families. Leveraging William Blair’s full range of capabilities, he works
with professionals in the firm’s financial planning, open-architecture
investment, and corporate and executives services groups. Ed begins
each relationship by developing a thorough understanding of his clients’
objectives, resources, risk tolerance, and time frame. These factors
affect the asset allocation and investment strategy, and lead to a highly
customized approach that is uniquely positioned to meet his clients’
In addition, Ed serves as a Corporate Retirement Director. In this role,
he assists plan sponsors fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities with
respect to managing and administering retirement plans.
Constructing and managing a successful plan is more difficult than
ever, given the complex administrative and regulatory requirements
placed on plan fiduciaries. Ed works with plan sponsors to select service
providers, construct and monitor appropriate investment menus, and
educate plan participants. Ed and his team currently consult on plans
from a wide variety of industries, asset levels, and plan types.
Ed graduated from Indiana University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree
in Business Administration. Ed has received a M.B.A. in Finance from
Northwestern University’s Kellogg Business School, holds his CPA
License, and is a Chartered Retirement Planning Specialist, CRPSTM.
