About Steve

Steve Horowitz is a managing director and co-head of sports, media & entertainment for William Blair, based in the firm’s New York office. He joined William Blair in 2026 as part of the firm’s acquisition of Inner Circle Sports, the leading independent advisory firm focused on the sports industry, which he co-founded.

Steve brings more than three decades of experience advising owners, investors, leagues, teams, media companies, and strategic buyers on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and other strategic transactions across the global sports ecosystem. He and his partner, Rob Tilliss have advised on more control transactions involving professional sports teams than any other advisor in the industry, helping shape the evolving ownership and investment landscape across North America and Europe.

Over the course of his career, Steve has advised many of the world’s most prominent sports organizations and investors on landmark transactions and strategic initiatives. He has been at the forefront of the growing institutionalization of sports ownership, advising leagues, team owners, private equity firms, sovereign investors, family offices, and strategic acquirers as capital has increasingly flowed into the sports industry.

Prior to founding ICS, Steve held leadership positions with ProServ and the NFL Quarterback Club, where he worked with athletes, brands, and sports properties on marketing, sponsorship, and business development initiatives.
