About Alex

Alex Lane, managing director, is a wealth advisor in William Blair’s Private Wealth Management group. He provides high-net-worth and institutional clients the firm’s full suite of investment solutions, including investment management, portfolio guidance, and wealth planning. Through a team-based, consultative approach, he works closely with clients to identify their investment objectives and implement solutions to help them develop financial strategies. Alex meets with clients regularly to review portfolio details and leverage the full scope of resources available through William Blair to provide holistic solutions.

Alex joined William Blair from TD Wealth and has nearly 30 years of industry experience. He formerly worked at Citigroup, where for 11 years he managed portfolios for clients of the Citi Private Bank and the Citi Trust Company. Before Citigroup, Alex was an equity analyst at Columbus Circle Investors, an investment management firm located in Stamford, Connecticut. Alex began his career at Prudential Securities in its equity research department.

Alex is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Stamford CFA Society. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude from Hamilton College with a B.A. Alex lives with his wife and three daughters in Darien, Connecticut. He is a snow sports enthusiast, teaching snowboarding on winter weekends.
