Over the past three days, William Blair held its 41st Annual Growth Stock Conference, which again took place in a virtual format. Last year’s event was the first time many participants and attendees were using their hastily installed teleconferencing facilities, and this thankfully proved to be a smooth and successful transition. Amazingly, the novelty of that conference format now seems like decades ago, and the world has clearly adapted and moved on quickly. Nevertheless, we do miss the in-person event, not only to reunite with colleagues, clients, and companies, but also for the chance to experience some of the best of what the city of Chicago has to offer. With any luck, as we emerge into a new hybrid environment, there will be some kind of in-person experience for the 42nd Growth Stock Conference in 2022.

As we have done in past years, in this week’s Economics Weekly, we present a handful of the many macro thoughts, emerging themes, quotes, and tidbits that we heard from the management teams during the three days of meetings.
