William Blair held its 40th Annual Growth Stock Conference this past week, which due to the current pandemic, took place in an online video format. The strong consensus among participants was that the event worked spectacularly well—perhaps too well, as some clients were fearful that it might obviate the chance for a visit to Chicago to attend next year's event. Certainly, one of the biggest drawbacks was the element of post-conference drinks and dinners with clients and colleagues, and the chance to informally recap the day's events, companies presenting, and more generally discuss some of the observed economic and market trends.

Nevertheless, as we have done in past years, in this Economics Weekly, we present some of the macro thoughts, quotes, and tidbits that we heard from the management teams, as well as a few of the bigger picture themes we heard discussed over the three days of meetings.
