About Renee

Renee Marongwe is a lead philanthropic advisor for William Blair, responsible for advising high-net-worth individuals and families, foundations, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs to optimize their philanthropic and charitable goals. With a focus on generational, gender, and racial wealth mobility, Renee is also deploying William Blair’s Capital Collective, an initiative to foster first-generation wealth and provide access to capital for female entrepreneurs.

Renee joined the firm in 2022 as a member of William Blair’s philanthropy strategy and ESG team, which is committed to advising clients on philanthropic planning, ESG programs, and impact investing initiatives. Renee has extensive experience in leading strategy, implementation and reporting of ESG, impact investing initiatives, and social impact go-to-market investment opportunities.

Before joining William Blair, Renee was the director of emerging initiatives for Southern New Hampshire University, where she led the development and execution of the investment strategy for a portfolio of high-priority ESG initiatives. Before that role, she was the director of ecosystem strategy and analysis for the university.

Renee holds an M.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago, Quinlan School of Business as a Baumhart Scholar and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the College of Charleston. She is certified as a sustainability strategist by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and is a Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) Level II candidate. In her free time, Renee enjoys traveling with her husband and two sons.
